Commonly known as Title 24, the regulatory standard that has been in effect since 1978 established minimum energy efficiency criteria for residential and commercial buildings.

Title 24 energy calculations must be submitted to municipal or county building departments as a condition of granting a building permit. The submitted report must document that the proposed construction or building modification conforms to Title 24 energy standards.
