The type of window and the installation method used depends on the problem that is being overcome and the construction characteristics of the house. The following problem areas are presented and explained to help you understand the various directions your new window installations might take.
CONDENSATION
Moisture appearing as a “fogging” or “sweating” on non-absorbent materials such as glass.

If condensation is found between the two layers of dual-pane glass, this is a failure of the seal between the glass (nothing to do with the quality of installation), and can only be remedied by replacement of the dual-pane glass unit, or the window.
Excessive condensation will create mildew, molds and dry rot.

Visible mold can often be found in poorly insulated or installed windows. Mold is more and more being linked to child asthma plus increases in general respiratory illness, allergies and outbreaks of fungal diseases.
CONDENSATION IS CREATED BY
  • Breathing and our bodies perspiring
  • Cooking
  • Washing Dishes
  • Bathing
  • Washing and Drying Clothes
  • House Plants
CONDENSATION PREVENTION (Get rid of excessive moisture)
  • Using exhaust fans in kitchen and baths
  • Venting clothes dryers and gas appliances properly
  • Opening bath and laundry room windows during use.
  • Preventing moisture from getting to a cold surface by installing Energy Efficient Windows and Doors
